Island MMTS is poised to bring over 1,500 stopover visitors to The Bahamas for its 2015 International Conference scheduled July 13 to July 19, 2015.

COO of Island MMTS Inc (and Co-Founder of The DS3 Group), PJ Douglas Sands and the Media Team are really excited about the launch. When asked why she felt an official BBM Channel was important to the Island MMTS brand, Ms. Douglas Sands expressed that technology continues to level the playing field.  Island MMTS in particular, is using technology and new media in innovative ways to get the word out. MMTS is a great opportunity for those aspiring to become professionals in the entertainment industry.

Island MMTS has only just begun to take full advantage of the many benefits of a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Twitter and SoundCloud. Not only do they compliment IslandMMTS.com as a website, but work in tandem with the support of local traditional media outlets such as newspapers, radio, television and magazines.

“Throughout the Caribbean and The Bahamas, Blackberry has always been one of the top mobile platforms.  In many islands, it is the most affordable way to communicate.  Island MMTS is happy to be a part of the BBM family which allows those who have Blackberry devices as well as iPhones, Androids and Windows Phone, not only to chat with us in real-time but see what’s going on with our auditions around the region. Launching the Official BBM channel for Island MMTS has been ground-breaking.  No other entertainment company in The Bahamas has an Official BBM Channel.” – PJ Douglas Sands, COO, Island MMTS Inc.

As Island MMTS travels the Caribbean and hosts free auditions in 37 cities this year, social media has documented the conversation we are having with individuals who are hungry to take their talent to the world and be seen by international scouts, major labels and talent agencies.

Inaugural #SocialMediaBootCamp hits #Bahamas w @cryswashington, @shopBVM, @pjsandsDS3

20130529-132441.jpg

The Bahamas has a population of nearly 300,000 people spread out over 700 islands and cays. Only 165,000 of those individuals have access to the Internet via smart phones or desktop computers. That’s a little over 50%.

Social media worldwide has become the way that news spreads primarily. It’s the primary method entrepreneurs and businesses use to affordably market their product or service. It is the way many people communicate with friends and family on a daily basis.

Social media is instant. You post a photo on Instagram or pInterest and hashtag it with a trending topic and voila – the world sees it. You have a random thought or watch something interesting on TV so you tweet it or post it as your Facebook status and 5,000 of your closest friends (if they happen to be logged in then) see it.

In the Caribbean you find that with a smaller percentage of people in each country having access to the Internet it becomes more important to understand how to maximize results. As an individual you might want to get the word out inexpensively on yard sale or a cook out. As a church you might want to let members and prospective members know of an upcoming program. As an entrepreneur you might not have the capital to advertise on the news, radio or in a newspaper but you aspire to get your business out to as many people as possible in a short amount of time. As a musician you might have a song living in obscurity on SoundCloud, YouTube or iTunes but have no fans to become evangelists for your music.

That’s where Social Media fits into your life. For the average person it is entertainment but for those aspiring to get more reach, becoming familiar with what can work for you, your organization or your business is ideal and can make all the difference as you attempt to build your brand.

Join Shop BVM, The Publicity Agency and KPAC together with panelists like Communications Consultant Miranda Inniss, Social Media Expert and Author Crystal Washington, Entrepreneur Ricardo Berris, Inspector Mark Barrett, Branding and Events Strategist PJ Douglas Sands and others at Social Media Boot Camp on May 30-31, 2013 at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort to learn how to make social media work for you. Registration begins at 8am EST, and sessions start promptly at 9am EST to end at 1pm.

Register online at www.socialmediabahamas.com and take your sphere of influence to another level.

• You’re on Social Media – Now What?
